The villa is beautiful — well-furnished, meticulously clean, everything working. But what stood out to me was how Alex operates. Before arrival he sent a detailed local guide. The morning after we arrived he sent a brief message to make sure everything was as expected. When I mentioned in passing that one of our group had a dietary restriction, there was a note from him the following morning with three restaurant suggestions that suited her. That level of attention is rare. Great villa, exceptional host.
Two families, five children between us, one week — and the villa handled all of it comfortably. The pool was the centre of everyone's universe from day one. The outdoor area is big enough for both families to have their own space when needed. We did one trip to the waterfall and one beach day and the rest of the time the kids were perfectly happy at the villa. An exhausted but happy family holiday.
We had four couples ranging from late twenties to mid-sixties and the villa worked for everyone. Comfortable beds, air conditioning in every room, a pool that gets sun all day, and enough outdoor seating that you can spread out without being on top of each other. The kitchen is genuinely well-equipped rather than token, which matters when you're self-catering for a week. Sosua and Cabarete both easy from here. Highly recommended.
We'd been to the Dominican Republic twice before and always eaten at restaurants. This time we booked Rocio for four evenings and it transformed the experience. She cooked seafood the first night — butterflied whole fish with a herb crust and coconut rice — and it was so good we immediately asked her back. Over the week she introduced us to moro, mangú, and a slow-braised goat stew that was extraordinary. No agenda, no shortcuts. She cooks like someone who genuinely wants you to love the food.
