We came for spring break with a group of eight, half of them first-timers to the DR. The villa was exactly as described: well-maintained, spacious, great pool, accurate photos. Sosua itself was a revelation for those who'd never been ? the beach, the seafront restaurants, the welcoming atmosphere. We had no issues with the property and the booking process was smooth. A clean, honest listing and a clean, honest villa. Coming back next spring.
We'd planned to eat out every evening. By day three we'd had Rocio cook twice and the restaurants suddenly seemed much less appealing. She has an effortless command of Dominican ingredients ? the way she handles plantains and fresh fish and the local spices is completely instinctive. We went back to restaurants for the last two evenings out of obligation to Sosua's excellent food scene but honestly, Rocio's meals were the better dinners. Exceptional cook.
A colleague who knows the DR well told us November is the hidden gem month on the north coast and she was completely right. The beaches are uncrowded, the weather is warm and calm, and the local restaurants have more time for you. This villa was an excellent base for all of that: comfortable, clean, great pool, good location. Quiet and peaceful without feeling remote. We're already talking about making it an annual November trip.
We had a solid stay here overall. The villa is comfortable and the pool is great. On day four the bathroom sink in one of the rooms stopped draining properly. We messaged Alex, he responded within 20 minutes, and had a plumber there by mid-afternoon who fixed it in about 30 minutes. That response time is exceptional and we really appreciated it. The property itself is nice and accurately described. Slight deduction from five purely because of the issue, not the response to it.
July is hot in Sosua. No question. The pool is not optional in July ? it's essential infrastructure. This villa's pool is excellent: large, well-shaded in the late afternoon, cold drinks nearby. We came with five friends and spent most of the trip between pool and beach. The evenings in July are beautiful ? the heat drops to something genuinely pleasant and the open-air restaurant scene in Sosua comes alive. Excellent July trip.
