Bringing three teenagers on a family holiday is always an experiment. The villa was the right choice: pool to keep them occupied, strong WiFi for when they weren't, a location close enough to town for some independence, and bedrooms private enough that everyone could have their own space. We adults had peaceful mornings while the kids slept in and lively evenings when they were actually present. One of our better family trips.
We came in January specifically because we'd heard the north coast is magical when the whale-watching season opens in Samana. Alex, knowing we wanted that experience, pointed us toward a reputable tour company and helped us coordinate transport for the day trip. The whale watching was spectacular ? three humpbacks within 30 metres of the boat ? and having a trustworthy recommendation made booking it simple. The villa itself is very comfortable and well-located. Great month to visit.
Three of us came in mid-December specifically to avoid Christmas preparations for a week. The villa delivered on every count: clean, comfortable, quiet, great pool. December in Sosua has a lovely festive mood in the local bars and restaurants without being overwhelming. We ate out four evenings and cooked the other three. The kitchen is properly equipped which I always appreciate. Came back refreshed and ready for the actual Christmas.
A Dominican colleague told us November is the best month to visit and she wasn't wrong. The north coast in November is warm, the sea is calm, and you don't share the beach with three tour buses. The villa was spotlessly maintained and the property team was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We slept better here than we do at home. Ate well, swam daily, and came back looking like different people.
The villa is comfortable and well-presented. Pool is clean and a good size, bedrooms properly air-conditioned, kitchen well-stocked. One evening the power flickered and cut out for about 25 minutes. The backup generator kicked in within a few minutes and the AC stayed on throughout, so it was more of a curiosity than an inconvenience. Power fluctuations in this part of the DR are not uncommon and the backup system here handled it without drama. No complaints.
