I'll write the obvious bit first: the villa is great. Pool, space, comfortable rooms, good location. All true, all five stars. What I actually want to write about is Jonathan. We used him as our driver for three days and he recalibrated our entire trip. He took us to a fishing co-op where you pick your own fish and it gets cooked on site, to a waterfall trail that's a proper walk rather than a tourist queue, and on the third day to a spot on the coast that's only accessible at low tide. Exceptional local knowledge.
We had a really enjoyable week here overall. The villa itself is lovely: good pool, comfortable rooms, well-equipped kitchen, nice terrace. One evening the neighbouring property had what sounded like a large party that ran until about 2am. It was the one disruption in an otherwise excellent stay and honestly not something the villa or host can fully control — these things happen. Every other night was completely quiet and peaceful. Four stars because of that one evening, five for everything else.
The villa is excellent — well-proportioned, clean, lovely pool, good location. But what made our week was Rocio. We booked her for two evenings and she cooked as if she were feeding her own family: generous, warm, completely authentic Dominican food. Fresh shrimp cooked in garlic and lime on the first evening, a whole fish with coconut rice and tostones on the second. Both nights we sat at the table well past midnight just enjoying it all. We've already messaged asking if she's available for our next trip.
We chose this villa for Easter week with extended family and Alex was communicative and helpful from the first booking inquiry. He sent a local guide with specific Easter week recommendations — a beach that's quieter despite the holiday weekend, a church procession worth seeing, a restaurant that books up but which he helped us get into with a word to the owner. Those kinds of small assists make a big difference when you're in a place for the first time. The villa itself is spacious, well-maintained, and genuinely beautiful.
We landed in Sosua in February half-term with our children expecting a nice holiday and got something genuinely special instead. The villa is beautiful — tastefully done, proper pool, great outdoor space. The kids were in the water from about 8am on day one and barely surfaced for the rest of the week. We ate outside every evening. Carnival atmosphere in town made a couple of evening outings really memorable. Perfect week.
