We discovered this villa three years ago and come back every time we need to properly disconnect. The property is beautifully maintained and Alex keeps it in excellent condition. There's a simplicity to it that you appreciate more each visit ? the garden feels slightly more established, the plunge pool always clear and inviting, the interior as comfortable as a well-loved home. The DR itself is endlessly rewarding to return to and this villa is where we do it.
We came here to properly rest and mostly succeeded. The hammock under the palms, the plunge pool with the afternoon light hitting it at just the right angle ? it's a proper recharge villa. We booked Rocio to cook for us one evening and she made a traditional Dominican sancocho that felt completely genuine in a way restaurant food sometimes doesn't. Warm, earthy, generous portions. We lingered at the table for two hours afterward just talking. Perfect evening.
The villa itself is genuinely lovely: the garden, the plunge pool, the thoughtful interior. We had a wonderful stay. The one thing that caught us slightly off-guard was how much easier it would have been with a rental car or a reliable contact for rides. We used a driver recommended through the booking and he was fine but not always available on short notice. If you're planning day trips, sort your transportation in advance and this villa is perfect.
We've done city breaks, we've done hotels, we've done other Caribbean islands ? this villa is the one that finally got it right. The seclusion is the main thing. You hear birds in the morning, nothing else. Long breakfasts, afternoon reading by the pool, slow dinners inside when it rained briefly one evening. We didn't want excursions or activities. We wanted to stop, and this place is designed for exactly that.
My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and couldn't have chosen better. The privacy is extraordinary ? you genuinely feel like you're in your own private corner of the island. Alex had left champagne, local flowers, and a handwritten welcome note on the table when we arrived. Small gestures, huge impact. We spent three days barely leaving the property, two days exploring with a rented car, and one spectacular evening at a beachfront restaurant Alex recommended. One of the best weeks of our lives.
